Harding Men's Track ranked 24th nationally

SEARCY - The Harding men's track and field team, coached by Steve Guymon, is ranked 24th in NCAA Division II according to a poll released Tuesday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Harding had 47.62 points in the poll. Athletes receive points for a time or a mark that ranks in the top 40 nationally. The Bisons' two highest point totals come in the same event--the 5000 meters. Daniel Kirwa has a season-best time of 14:24.54, which ranks fifth nationally and is worth 13.41 points. Philip Biwott has the sixth-fastest time in the event (14:25.79) and earned 11.30 points.

Kirwa also has the eighth-fastest 800 meter time, and Harding's 4x400 relay team has the ninth-fastest time.

The Bisons are ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II South Region, trailing only Morehouse, Benedict and Albany State.

The Harding women's team is ranked seventh in the South Region and 91st in Division II. Katy Grant has the top steeplechase time in the region (11:11.71) and Tiffany Chambers is the top pole vaulter in the region (10 feet, 6 inches).
