Stephanie Foreman Wins Pole Vault for ASU at Ole Miss Invitational

Oxford, MS (ASU) - It turned out to be a perfect day to compete on the track in Oxford, Miss. and the Arkansas State track and field teams took advantage setting season-best marks and personal bests in a number of events at the Ole Miss Invitational Saturday.

"Today turned out to be an outstanding day to run track and field and it really showed on the track," said ASU head coach Lon Badeaux. "We took so many strides forward that if we keep going that way we will be in really good shape the rest of the year. I was very, very pleased."

The Red Wolves middle-distance runners shined in both genders led by Dawn L'Heureux who posted a personal best of 4:43.39 finishing fifth on the women's side in the 1,500 meter run. L'Heureux also won the second section of the 800 meters posting a time of 2:17.19.

Nearly everyone on the men's side set a personal best in the men's 1,500 led by Michael Miller who won his section of the event with a time of 3:57.23. Derrell Pigram also had a personal best in the 1,500 posting a time of 4:01.18. Henry Ndichu won the third heat of the 1,500 with a time of 4:08.99.

Caitlin Winey set a personal best in the 400 meter hurdles for the third-straight meet clocking a 1:02.29 in her heat, finishing third.

Chelsea Weaver turned in a solid performance in the 3,000 meter steeplechase posting a time of 11:52.96 to finish eighth n the event.

The Red Wolves women's 4 X 400 team turned in a inspired performance running the fastest race they have run in the event all season, by nearly nine seconds. The relay squad led by Teondra Poole, Winey, Jamie Curry and Allyson Perry finished second in the event with a time of 3:49.84.

Sophomore Stephanie Foreman won the pole vault moving her career-high mark a little higher jumping 13-1.50 in the event. Catheryn Frappier was tied for fourth in the event at 11-11.75.

David Starnes improved his height in the men's pole vault with a distance 15-11 finishing sixth in the field. 

The ASU multiathletes return to action at the Kansas Relays Wednesday and Thursday while the whole crew gets back to action at the Memphis Invitational on Saturday.
