PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) - A group says it has begun gathering signatures on petitions seeking an election on removing Pine Bluff Mayor Carl Redus from office. The group called Concerned Citizens of Pine Bluff held a news conference Friday to announce its recall effort.
Spokesman Gary Wilson said Redus had made far too many bad judgment calls that resulted in a decline of morale among both residents and city employees. Redus said the recall effort was a matter of sour grapes, and said he didn't think the group was representative of city residents.
Joe Woodson, an attorney for the secretary of states office, said the group would need to get signatures from at least 25 percent of the registered voters in Pine Bluff, or 10,275 signatures.
