SIOUX CITY, IA (KAIT) – A Region 8 man who pled guilty to selling crack cocaine in Iowa, is sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
According to the Sioux City Journal, Johnnie Cannon of Blytheville pled guilty on October 21st to conspiracy to distribute over 20 grams of crack cocaine in Sioux City during July 2007.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa, police found almost $3,000 in cash in Cannon's pocket at the time of his arrest on July 17, 2007.
Cannon was placed in the back of the police car when he took nine grams of crack cocaine out of his pocket and kicked it underneath the seat. Officers later found the drugs.
Cannon was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment on April 8. He was also ordered to pay a special assessment of $200 and serve an 8-year term of supervised release after his prison term.
The Journal reports Cannon is being held in United States Marshal's custody until he can be taken to a federal prison.
