Man pleads guilty in bizarre assault case

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (AP) - A Cape Girardeau man had admitted that he wrapped himself in plastic and displayed a knife with his wife's name it before threatening to kill her.

The Southeast Missourian reports that Joshua David Wright pleaded guilty Monday to unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree domestic assault.

Wright's wife told authorities that on March 9 she returned to their home and found Wright wrapped in trash bags from head to foot. She told police that he said he didn't want to get blood on himself when he killed her.

He also had a knife with her name written on the blade and another with her ex-boyfriend's name on the blade. A third weapon, a broken wooden stick, had both their names written on it.

Wright will be sentenced May 10.
