Helping potential home buyers find the perfect fit

"I wanted to make sure I provided a safe environment for my son and for him to be proud of me," said Sharon Rowe.

Sharon Rowe wanted to plant roots for her and her son in Jonesboro.  That included owning a home-- and to Sharon, it's much more than just the American dream.

"That was one of my goals and I was actually about to embark upon it," said Rowe.

Sharon signed up for the home buyer education class presented by the Jonesboro Urban Renewal  and Housing Authority.  It's a class full of information available to those at any stage of the home buying process.

"It takes the sting out of it when you're better prepared, when you're embarking on something so huge," said Rowe.

"I have realtors, I have insurance agents," said event organizer, Sheila Reddig.

Experts will be there to answer questions from  qualifying for loans, to managing money.

"It isn't just a step in helping it come true, but it's a step in helping you to keep it," said Reddig.

Sheila Reddig says home buying can be a daunting task and she's hopeful the class can help prepare potential home buyers.

"I hope that they leave with a good feeling, that they know what they're doing, and what they're doing is right," said Reddig.

For Sharon Rowe, she says not only did she buy a home--she found a lot of confidence in herself along the way.  It's a path to home ownership that she calls a blessing.

"I've been in this house for two years and it wouldn't have been possible without God and this program," said Rowe.

The event will be Thursday, April 15th from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.  It will be held on the 4th floor of  Regions Bank located at 2400 Highland in Jonesboro. It is a free event and open to the public.

There will be realtors, lenders, insurance agents and many more on hand to answer participant's questions.
