Arkansas National Guard unit headed for Kosovo

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - About 60 Arkansas National Guard soldiers are preparing to leave for a yearlong deployment to Kosovo.

Family members and friends were on hand Tuesday for a ceremony at Camp Robinson to honor members of the North Little Rock-based 77th Aviation Brigade.

Unit commander, Lt. Col. Tim Taylor says once in Kosovo, the guard members will provide air medical, air assault and air movement support for the Multinational Battle Group, a coalition of peacekeeping forces.

First Lt. Felicia Anderson says it's difficult leaving family and friends, but there are close bonds within the unit so she considers each soldier to be a memer of her family.
