Highway Department says inspections to require closed lane

FORT SMITH, AR (AP) - State highway officials say motorists who use the Interstate 540 bridge between Fort Smith and Van Buren need to be on the lookout for lane closures this week, beginning Tuesday.

The Highway Department says crews performing a routine inspection of the bridge will need to close the northbound, outside lane beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday and lasting until 3 p.m. During the same times on Wednesday and Thursday, the southbound, outside lane will be closed.
