Highway 67 back open in Lawrence Co after head-on wreck

HOXIE, AR (KAIT) – Highway 67 is back open after a head-on collision involving a tractor trailer  just south of Hoxie closed the road for about an hour.

According to the Hoxie Police Department, an S-U-V and a tractor trailer were involved in a head-on collision leaving one person entrapped. Police say the driver of the S-U-V crossed the center line and hit the semi.

The driver of the S-U-V was air-lifted to a local hospital. The driver of the semi was not injured in the accident.

Police say the wreck occurred in the community of Last Chance just south of the town of Hoxie.

Lawrence County Office of Emergency Management was also dispatched to the scene due to a diesel fuel leak coming from the tractor trailer. It was not believed to be a large spill.

    According to Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller, two teenagers, who were both seniors in high school, are dead after a train versus truck crash near County Road 154 north of Corning.
