Spotters: Tornado touches down in Region 8

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Severe weather tore through Region 8 Friday evening, spawning tornado warnings in several counties.

Storm spotters in Craighead County reported seeing a tornado on the ground just outside of Cash. Power lines and trees have been reported down on Highway 91 near Egypt as well.

In Lawrence County near the town of Alicia sheet metal can be seen thrown across yards and farms. Also Region 8's Keith Boles snapped a picture of a large tree that had been uprooted. The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department has received reports of homes being damaged as well.

The National Weather Service extended a Tornado Watch that was set to expire at 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
