JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The man who is accused of shooting at police that left another man dead, pleaded not guilty in a Craighead County court.

Phillip Sutfin is accused of shooting at police officers when parole and probation officers along with Craighead County Sheriff's Deputies served a search warrant back on September 28.

Police say Sutfin, and Raymond Floyd ran into a nearby soybean field after setting fire to the mobile home they were staying in. Police chased the suspects into the field, where police say the two men opened fire on the officers.

Investigators say Floyd was killed when officers returned fire, and Sutfin surrendered after being shot in the hip.

A Jonesboro Police Officer and three Craighead County Sheriff's Deputies were cleared of any wrongdoing by prosecutors.

Sutfin is facing three counts of attempted murder, and he's scheduled to be in court on May 10.
