More fans mean more cash for Mizzou women's coach

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Missouri has given its new women's basketball coach thousands of reasons to pull in the fans and improve her team's academic performance.

Robin Pingeton (PINJ'-tuhn) signed a 5-year contract earlier this month with a base salary of $300,000. The school recently released contract details with a long list of incentives.

Missouri averaged just 1,609 fans at Mizzou Arena in 2009-10, by far the lowest in the Big 12 Conference. Pingeton will receive an extra $5,000 a year if attendance doubles in each of her first two years.

She can also earn up to $75,000 annually starting in her third year for raising the team's graduation rate and grade-point averages. That's three times the amount of a similar incentive in former coach Cindy Stein's contract.
