WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The post-season is coming to Williams Baptist College. The Lady Eagles softball team, co-champions of the American Midwest Conference, will host their first round series in the AMC tournament on Friday.
Williams finished the regular season atop the conference standings, tied for first place with Columbia College. Both teams had a 12-4 conference record, but tie-breakers place WBC as the second seed in the conference tourney. The Lady Eagles they will face the AMC's number seven seed on Friday. Games this week will determine which AMC school gets the seventh seed and travels to Williams.
The tournament follows a best-of-3 format, meaning the team that wins two games in the opening round will advance to the next round. The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday and a third game, if necessary, on Saturday.
If WBC wins its first round series, it would then automatically host a second round series next week.
The conference championship is the first ever for the Williams softball team, and this is also the first time for the squad to host a conference tournament contest. The opening game will start at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the WBC Softball Field.
