Former JHS Standout Austin Cook named to SEC Men's Golf All-Freshmen Team

Fayetteville (UofA) - Senior David Lingmerth and freshman Austin Cook were each honored by the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday with All-league honors.  Lingmerth was one of nine players to be named first-team All-SEC while Cook was placed on the SEC All-Freshman Team.

"I am really proud of David and Austin," Arkansas head coach Brad McMakin said.  "They have both worked really hard this year and have had great seasons.  David's numbers speak for themselves, but I've been really impressed with the way Austin has come along from the fall.  He is going to be a very good golfer for the Razorbacks for years to come."

Lingmerth is Arkansas' No. 1 player this season and leads the Razorbacks in stroke average at 71.41.  In 12 tournaments this season he has finished among the top 10, 10 times and has shot par or better in six tournaments.  For the season he has played 32 rounds and has a cumulative score of seven-over-par and just last week was selected to represent Team Europe at the Palmer Cup.  This is the second consecutive year that Lingmerth has earned All-SEC honors after taking a second-team award a year ago making him the 10th Arkansas player to earn multiple All-SEC awards in his career.

Cook becomes the third Razorback to earn All-Freshman honors in school history after the award began in 2008.  He joins former Razorback Sam Chavez and current Hog Ethan Tracy as those to earn the distinction and did so with a solid 74.00 stroke average over 11 tournaments this season.  He has been among the top 20 in three tournaments this year and has a single round best 216 which he shot at the Battle at the Beach in February.
