Disturbance at Jonesboro High School; no kids in danger

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro Police are increasing their presence at Jonesboro High School due to rumors after police were called to the school.

According to Jonesboro Police Sgt. Steve McDaniel's with Jonesboro Police, a third party threat between a couple of students sparked the response by police. Once police arrived and investigated, they determined it to not be a creditable threat.

Both police and school officials say the threat mentioned no weapons, and no weapons were found on campus.

Police say during questioning one of the juveniles was arrested on a totally different manner. Another student was sent home for the day.

Police say they'll increase their presence at the school since so many text messages and rumors spread because of the incident.

Jonesboro Police and Jonesboro School Superintendent Dr. Kim Wilbanks said the school was never on lockdown, and the students were never in any danger.
