Arrest made in Blytheville Wal-Mart fire

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) – Blytheville Police have made an arrest in a fire that caused the evacuation of the local Wal-Mart Thursday night.

According to the Blytheville Police Department, Amber McGee was arrested after police say she set fire to the Arts and Crafts section of the Blytheville Wal-Mart around 8:30 Thursday night.

During the course of the investigation, the Blytheville Fire Marshall received a tip that McGee may have information pertaining to the fire, and after interviewing her, she confessed. She was then transported to the Blytheville Police Station where she made a formal statement and was arrested.

Fire and police officials say Wal-Mart suffered almost $100,000 worth of fire, smoke and water damage caused by fire.

McGee is charged with arson and had her bond set at $1,000.
