JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The derby may be in Kentucky, but one group in Region 8 is celebrating the race in style! The Run for the Roses held Saturday afternoon in Jonesboro allowed people dress up, pick their horses for the race and have a good time all while raising money to benefit the Arkansas Children's Hospital.
Their goal is to raise $33,000 to help the hospital purchase a giraffe bed for the hospital.
"We've got the opportunity to place a 'bet', if you want to call it that, on a horse and the money actually goes directly to Arkansas Children's Hospital. If you win place or show there are some things you can win," said Run for the Roses Publicity Chair D.J. Duckworth.
TV's were set up so attendees could watch the race while it was happening.
