Missouri teen dies after accidental shooting

HUNTINGTON, WV (AP) - A Missouri teenager has died at a Huntington hospital one day after being accidentally shot in the head by his brother at a hotel.

A nursing supervisor at Cabell Huntington Hospital said Sunday the 13-year-old boy died Saturday night.

State Police Trooper S.N. Swope says the victim and his 14-year-old brother from Independence, Mo., were traveling with an uncle, who had left the boys alone in the hotel room while he went to pick up friends Friday night.

Swope says the older boy pulled out a gun he had packed in his belongings and was trying to unload it when the gun fired, striking the younger teen in the head.

Police have ruled the shooting an accident. The names of the boys were withheld because of their ages.
