Baxter county man arrested on burglary and theft charges

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Criminal investigations into two separate burglary and theft charges land one Region 8 man behind bars for possession of stolen property.

On April 22, 2010, sheriff's deputies were called to a residence on Tracy Ferry road in response to the burglary of a vacant residence where various articles of personal property were being stored. The items stolen had a collective value of approximately $5,900.

A week later, on April 29, 2010, sheriff's deputies responded to an address on State Highway 5 South after it was reported that a trailer loaded with scrap metal was missing. Shortly after, the trailer was found abandoned at a different location with roughly one half of the scrap metal missing. The missing metal was valued at approximately $1,600.

After obtaining information as to the potential location of some of the items, investigators served a search warrant at a mini storage building on State Highway 5 South on April 30th. Investigators found stolen items from both thefts inside the storage unit but were not able to establish sufficient grounds to charge the renter of the storage unit with the actual burglary and thefts. However, the renter, 26 year old Charles D. Terrell of Mountain Home, was arrested on two felony counts of Theft by Receiving for possessing the stolen property.

Terrelll was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center and later released from custody after posting a $10,000 bond. He will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on May 6 for arraignment on those charges.
