WELDON SPRING, MO (AP) - The Missouri Department of Transportation is asking the public the multimillion-dollar question: Should the Daniel Boone Bridge be fixed or replaced?
The bridge carrying westbound lanes of Interstate 64 over the Missouri River at the St. Louis County-St. Charles County line was built in 1935. MoDOT says it is nearing the end of its lifespan.
So engineers are seeking public input on whether millions of dollars should be spent to rehab the bridge, or if at least $100 million should be spent on replacing it.
KSDK-TV says MoDOT will host a meeting on the future of the bridge Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Busch Conservation Area in Weldon Spring.
