Ex-prosecutor gets prison time in child porn case

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis-area attorney who once served as a part-time municipal judge and prosecutor has been ordered to spend two years in federal prison for having child porn.

The sentence imposed Tuesday on 68-year-old George Richard Fox was less than half the five to six years he could have received. His attorney pressed for probation.

Fox pleaded guilty in February.

Authorities say Fox spent more than a year searching and viewing child porn that included images of toddlers and dozens of children in sex acts.

A federal prosecutor says Fox told investigators he didn't believe viewing the porn harmed anyone.

Fox is a former prosecutor in the St. Louis suburbs of Ballwin and Clarkson Valley, and a former municipal judge in Eureka.
