JONESBORO, Ark. -- An apartment complex explosion in southwest Jonesboro may have been caused by a methamphetamine lab.

Officers with the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force are investigating a fire at the Gladiolus Apartment Complex south of the Harrisburg Road overpass on Highway 63.

Jonesboro firemen were called to out to building 607 shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday. Firemen apparently saw enough evidence at the scene to call in DTF investigators. One resident of the complex says he was initially told the blaze was caused by a kitchen grease fire.

"We heard some commotion and everything and then we woke up about 5 o'clock this morning and looked outside and there was smoke everywhere," Brian Blessinger said. "And then the neighbor came up and told us it was a grease fire and she wanted to use the phone."

A task force spokesman says the incident is being investigated as a meth explosion.
