Region 8 group takes great strides to raise money

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - One Region 8 group is taking great strides in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis!  Saturday morning a walk was held at Joe Mack Campbell Park.

It's a disease that doesn't effect a lot of people, but is having an impact on some families in our area.  All of the money from raised benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Arkansas.

Julie Wilkins' 12-year-old daughter has Cystic Fibrosis and she said it is because of events like this one that research continues.

"Cystic Fibrosis does not receive any federal funding because of the rarity of the disease so it's vital.  We get money from individuals here and there," said Wilkins.

This is the 8th year for the event.  Money raised helps fund new drugs to come out to help those with the illness.
