Storms drop hail, drench central, SW Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - Hail up to the size of golf balls has been reported as thunderstorms passed through parts of central and southwestern Arkansas.

The National Weather service said some property damage was reported from Sunday afternoon's storms, but there were no reports of injuries.

The agency said the largest hail was reported in Perry County, west of Little Rock, about 2:42 p.m. Powerlines blown down by the winds also set a shed on fire in the Houston community.

Some homes also sustained damage in Perry County when hail broke windows and then fell inside the houses as well.

The Weather Service said trees were blown over and hail also fell in the Mayflower area shortly after 3 p.m. In the Sherwood area of Pulaski County, a roof was reported blown off an apartment building.

In southwest Arkansas, the agency said, trees and power lines were blown down in the vicinity of Thornton in Calhoun County.
