Missouri using stimulus funds for wastewater projects

JEFFERSON CITY, MO (AP) - Missouri is tops in the nation in using federal stimulus money for wastewater improvement projects.

Gov. Jay Nixon says Missouri has signed contracts and begun construction on all of its stimulus-funded wastewater infrastructure projects. The governor says he recently received a letter from federal officials saying that Missouri's progress ranked first among all states.

Communities across Missouri are using more than $103 million in federal stimulus funds for the wastewater projects.
