Top-seeded Missouri softball hosts NCAA regional

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A loss in the Big 12 championship didn't keep Missouri from earning a top seed as host of a four-team NCAA softball regional starting Friday.

Missouri is the ninth overall seed in the 64-team tournament. The Tigers host Creighton at 6:30 p.m. Friday. DePaul and Illinois complete the bracket in the 3-day event.

Missouri (46-11) also hosted an NCAA regional in 2009 on the way to an appearance in the Women's College World Series. The Tigers lost 9-0 to Oklahoma in the conference title game.
