Santee, CA (ASU) – Arkansas State men's golfer Lloyd du Preez shot a second-round 75 Friday at the NCAA Southwest Regional and climbed nine places in the individual standings to end the tournament's second day of competition tied for 57th place with a combined 154.
Competing as an individual, du Preez cut four strokes off his first round score of 79 posted Thursday. du Preez was tied for 66th after Thursday's opening round, but will enter the third and final round tomorrow just six strokes behind 10 golfers tied for 18th place.
Just the second ASU men's golfer to to ever compete in an NCAA regional tournament as an individual, du Preez is competing with nine other individuals and players from 13 teams at the Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee, Calif.
The tournament's third round will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (CT), while du Preez is set to tee off at 11:10 a.m. (CT).
