Firefighter dies from injuries

PINE BLUFF, AR (AP) - A firefighter injured when the wall of a burning building collapsed atop him in January has died.  Lt. David Curlin, 40, died Saturday afternoon at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.

Curlin was injured Jan. 3 as he and other firefighters were battling a blaze at an office-supply store on Main Street in Pine Bluff. When a brick wall and support beam fell on him, he was pinned beneath the bricks and the beam for about a minute and a half before he was freed.

Doctors said he suffered two broken arms, a broken pelvis and hip, broken ribs, a punctured lung and artery damage, and underwent several operations.  Curlin was a 14-year veteran of the Pine Bluff Fire Department.  He is survived by his wife and four daughters.
