Region 8 man found hiding in bathroom

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT)--Police charge a Caruthersville man and woman with numerous offenses after they find the man hiding in a bathroom and a meth lab.

Michael Sweat, 30, and Chanarra Brooke Young, 27, were arrested by Caruthersville Police on Friday afternoon. Police were trying to locate Sweat at 208 Taven after he failed to appear in court. He was found hiding in the bathroom after officers were given permission to search the residence.

While looking for Sweat, officers also found components for manufacturing methamphetamines, a small amount of the drug, and drug paraphernalia. A warrant was obtained to seize the found items.

Young was arrested on a previous Oregon County Warrant charging her with driving on a revoked license, failure to drive on right half of the roadway, displaying motor vehicle plates of another person, and failure to register vehicle.

Young is held in lieu of $1,594.00 cash only bond and is awaiting extradition to Oregon County. Sweat is held in Pemiscot County with no bond. More charges are expected to be filed on both.
