JONESBORO, Ark. -- Two Craighead County men were hospitalized with moderate injuries Tuesday when their small plane went down in a field off State Highway 18 just east of the Jonesboro city limits.

The injured men were identified as 27-year-old Michael Barkley of Brookland and his passenger, 28-year-old Christopher Bowman of Bay.

The accident occurred just before 7 a.m. Craighead County Sheriff's Deputy Marty Boyd says the plane went down when it apparently hit a nearby power line. The plane's engine may have begun to fail before it struck the power line.

Barkley and Bowman were each taken to St. Bernard's Medical Center for treatment. Meanwhile, the national transportation safety board has been called in to investigate the accident.
