VAN BUREN, MO (KFVS) - A manhunt continues Monday in Carter County for a convicted felon.

Phillip Wayne Catlett, 36, is wanted by police after apparently firing four shots into a mobile home in Hunter on Thursday. He has not been seen since Friday morning at a gas station in Doniphan. Officials say that they came within minutes of catching the suspect but he got away.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has turned the investigation over to the Carter Co. Sheriff's Department.  We are still searching but leads are drying up, said Deputy Stephanie Kirby.

Van Buren Police Chief Ryan Crandell says Catlett is hard to catch because he is local and knows where to hide out.  It has been one of the longest searches I can recall, he added.

Catlett faces charges of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.  He is considered armed and dangerous by police.

If you have any information on the location of Catlett call the Carter Co. Sheriff's Dept. at (573) 323-4510.
