Soccer Stars: Harding's Guzman, Washburn named to GSC All-Time Team

SEARCY, Ark. (Harding) – In commemoration of the upcoming 15th season of Gulf South Conference women's soccer, the conference recently released its All-Time Team. Two former Harding players—Minnie Guzman and Kendyl Washburn—earned 2nd Team honors.

A midfielder from Lewisville, Texas, Guzman played from 2006-09 and became the only Harding player to earn All-GSC honors all four seasons. She garnered 1st Team honors in 2006, 2007 and 2009 and 2nd Team honors in 2008. Guzman was also two-time All-Region (Daktronics 2nd Team All-South in 2009 and NSCAA 3rd Team All-South in 2008).

In 68 career games, Guzman scored nine goals (two game-winners) and had 13 assists. She ranks third at Harding in career games started.

A native of Midland, Texas, Washburn played forward at Harding from 2004-07 and was the 2007 GSC Player of the Year. She became one of only nine players in conference history to earn 1st Team All-GSC honors three times.

Also an outstanding student, Washburn garnered three Academic All-GSC honors and was named CoSIDA 1st Team Academic All-America in 2007.

In her career, Washburn started all 72 games, scored 48 goals (15 game-winners) and added 16 assists. In 2007, she set the Harding record with 17 goals scored.

Washburn is Harding's career leader in points, goals, game-winning goals, shots on goal, penalty kicks made (6) and games started.

She was one of six GSC women's soccer players ever to receive the GSC Top Ten Award.
