Asheville, NC (MILB) - Monday night was a magical night for the Tourists; they did something they hadn't done all season, and they did it twice. Asheville won both games with a walk-off hit in the ninth inning; the first 5-4 and the second 4-3.
They picked up Monday night trailing 3-2 in the eighth inning to the Sand Gnats who were batting with a runner on third. Savannah had just taken the lead and looked to be in control. Savannah scored the runner and took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Asheville drew two walks, the latter coming with two outs. Delta Cleary Jr. then came to the plate and split the gap in left-center, scoring both base-runners. With the game tied and Cleary at second, Angelys Nina then delivered a shot off the right field wall, driving in Cleary Jr. for the 5-4 victory.
Cleary Jr. also hit his second homer of the season in Game 1 in the first inning and tacked on a bases loaded walk in the 2nd for a 4 RBI day. He is hitting .263 with 2 HR, 15 RBI, and 5 stolen bases in 29 games this season with the Class A team in the South Atlantic League.
