NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Road construction could slow Interstate 40 traffic on Nashville's west side through the weekend.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation says work on new fly-over ramps at I-40 and White Bridge Road includes tearing out part of a retaining wall and pouring bases for new overhead sign structures. Crews will also be pouring concrete decking on 1 of the new ramps.
Traffic will be affected in both directions on I-40, beginning Friday at 9 p.m. CDT and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday.
Beginning at 10 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, only one eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open until near daybreak the next morning.
The project will eventually improve traffic flow between I-40 and Briley Parkway.
