HAYTI, MO (KAIT) – A Region 8 man was convicted on charges of robbery and assault stemming from February 2009.
A jury found Jermaine Spears guilty of robbing Jim's Jewelry and Pawn in Hayti, and beating Jim Burke.
Burke survived the attack, but police say his injuries still give him difficulties.
A judge is set to sentence Spears in a few weeks.
You may remember Spears's name from this past March when police say he escaped from the New Madrid County Jail after using an extension cord to climb over the way of the recreation yard.
Spears was caught and arrested in Blytheville after more than a week on the run. No word on when he faces charges for the escape.
