HAYTI, MO (KFVS) - A jury found a Steele man guilty of assault and the robbery for a 2009 robbery and assault of a jewelry and pawn store.

The jury found Jermaine L. Spears guilty of assault in the First Degree and the robbery in the second degree.

Jim's Jewelry and Pawn was robbed on February 24, 2009.  The owner, Jim Burke suffered series injuries and is still at this time having difficulties from the assault that he had received.

Spears admitted to attacking Burke in an interview with police. He said he repeatedly struck Burke in the head and face with his fist, according to the Hayti Police Department.

Police say Spears described Burke pleading with him to stop and asking him to "help me"..

Spears will be sentenced by Circuit Judge Fred Copeland in the coming weeks.
