JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro Police have arrested a man wanted in connection to a shooting a few weeks ago.

According to Jonesboro Police, Cornelius Vann was arrested Tuesday night around 8pm in Jonesboro during a traffic stop.

Police say Vann gave a false name to the officer, but was identified and arrested.

One week ago JPD issued an arrest warrant for Vann in connection to a shooting at the Cedar Heights Drive. Police say at the time of the shooting JPD responded to a fight in progress call, and when police arrived they found Charles Morris suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to St. Bernards Medical Center for treatment.

Police say Vann and Morris had been involved in some kind of altercation when Vann pulled a handgun and fired four shots, one of which hit Morris in the leg. Vann fled the scene after the shooting and evaded police for a week.

Vann is charged with battery in the second degree, and is scheduled to have a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon.
