Armed robbery occurs on E Johnson

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Jonesboro Police Department has released more information regarding the early morning armed robbery on Johnson.

Reports say at about 6:40 this morning, the Jonesboro dispatch center received a report of a robbery at the Tobacco Superstore located at 1214 East Johnson Avenue. When officers arrived to the scene, the female employee of the store, visibly shaken and upset, said she was opening the business for the day and was confronted by a subject who put a gun to her back and pushed her inside the building. The suspect then ordered her to the back room and had her open the safe.

The suspect is described as a black male, 25-29, and about 5 foot 11 inches with an average build. He was wearing all black and wore a mask covering half of his face.

During the robbery, the suspect took several items including multiple packages of Newport brand cigarettes and the victim's olive colored purse containing several bank and debit cards. The suspect then fled across Johnson Avenue on foot.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect while responding to the call, but the case is currently being investigated by the Jonesboro Police Department Criminal Investigation Division.

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Jonesboro Police Department is still trying to find a man that robbed the Tobacco Superstore on Johnson early Thursday morning.

The only information they are releasing at this time is that a black male came into the store with a mask and a firearm. He took an unknown amount cigarettes and some other pieces of property. No cash was taken.

The clerk was not harmed during the robbery.

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Jonesboro Police are currently looking through surveillance video, and trying to get more information about an armed robbery.

At approximately 6:45 on Thursday morning, police were alerted to an armed robbery on 1214 East Johnson at the Tobacco Superstore. No suspect has been named at this time.
