Jonesboro (ASU) — Arkansas State Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee announced Tuesday that Julie Lessiter is resigning her position as Associate Athletic Director of Student Services and Senior Woman Administrator, effective Aug. 6.
Lessiter will be leaving ASU to take the role of Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at LSU-Shreveport. She was in her second year with the A-State Athletics Department after spending the previous 13 months working at the LSUHSC-S Department of Neurosurgery.
"It was an extremely difficult decision for me to make in leaving ASU to move back home to be with my family," said Lessiter. "I have enjoyed living in Jonesboro, and more importantly, the people that I work with day-in and day-out at ASU. I especially want to thank Dr. Lee for giving me the opportunity to work at Arkansas State, and I will continue to support the Red Wolves teams and administration in what I know will be an exciting and prosperous year."
"The Student Services and Academic Support offices of the athletic department have made great strides since Julie came to Jonesboro, and we regret that she is leaving," said Lee. "She came to ASU during a period of transition and helped the department move forward. Although we are sorry to see her go, we are very happy that she is able to be closer to her family, and we wish her the very best in the future and in her new career opportunity."
A national search will begin immediately for Lessiter's replacement.
