Lyon's women's golf team selected as a NAIA Scholar-Team

Kansas City (Lyon) - The Lyon College women's golf team was named an NAIA Scholar-Team for the 2009-10 school year, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday. The Scots, under the direction of head coach Julie Church, finished with a 3.42 grade-point average over the course of the 2009-10 academic year.

Members of the 2009-10 Lyon College golf team were: seniors Diedra Dourth (Bella Vista, Ark.), Chelsea Wilson (Prairie Grove, Ark.) and Jennifer Flegel (Van Buren, Ark.); juniors Charli Steed (Thayer, Mo.) and Meredith Davis (Batesville, Ark.); and freshmen Cassie Huckabee (Cave City, Ark.) and Lonna Baker (Jonesboro, Ark.).

The Scots golf team was one of only eight TranSouth Athletic Conference member squads to make the prestigious list.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the participating institution. The team grade point average must include all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.
