PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – On Monday, a Paragould man was charged for possession of sexually explicit material involving children. According to court documents, they were found on his mobile phone.

John Paul Jones, 36 is facing 40 counts of felony distributing, possessing, and viewing sexually explicit content involving a child.

According to reports, Jones' fiancee allegedly discovered the pornographic images of children on Jones' mobile phone and alerted the Paragould Police. Reports also say she became suspicious after a juvenile female told her Jones had been secretively taking pictures of the juvenile with his phone.

After a search warrant was served for the phone, police allegedly found more than 7,000 pornographic images on the memory card. The card included approximately 400 images of "child sexual erotica" and at least 40 images of child pornography.

Jones denies knowledge of the pornographic images on the mobile phone.

Jones is being held in the Greene County Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 cash-only bond, and is due in Greene County Circuit Court on July 30.
