Mental evaluation ordered in capital murder trial

FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) – A mental evaluation has been ordered in a capital murder trial that was set to begin on Monday. The trial is indefinitely postponed.

According to police reports, Cornell Green, 49, is accused of killing his girlfriend, Katherine Dawson, and is also charged with burglary and Theft of Property.

Forrest City Police had found Dawson's body in her home on September 9; it appeared she had been beaten and then smothered with a pillow. According the records, Dawson and Greene had a history of domestic disputes with the most recent report being made two days before Dawson's death.

Green is currently being held without bond.
