SEARCY, Ar. (HU) – The Harding women's volleyball team recently received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award by maintaining a 3.52 team grade-point average for the 2009-10 school year.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Harding was one of 55 NCAA Division II programs to receive the award and one of only two Gulf South Conference schools.
For head coach Keith Giboney's Lady Bisons, it was the seventh AVCA Academic Team Award this decade. The squad also reached the 3.30 grade-point average plateau in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009.
