Meth bust leads to over $45,000 worth of stolen equipment

ASH FLAT, AR (KAIT) – A meth lab bust in Arkansas also turns up stolen equipment reported stolen in the past 3 months.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Department, they received a tip and searched the home of Brian Dust after online information indicated he made multiple purchases of pseudoephedrine within the past sixty days at various locations.

Investigators searched Dust's home at 336 Baxter County Road 12 and found components used in manufacturing meth.

Police also found a backhoe that was reported stolen on July 7, a Texas Dragg dump trailer reported stolen on July 2, and various stolen equipment from the Northeast Arkansas Electric Cooperative that was stolen from a Midway substation in April. The total value of the stolen equipment was estimated at over $45,000.

Dust is being charged with manufacture of a controlled substance (meth) and three counts of felony theft by receiving.

Dust's bond was set at $75,000 and is scheduled to be back in court later this week.
