Ark. court denies rehearing for convicted killer

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Supreme Court has denied a death row inmate's request for a rehearing of his capital murder conviction. The court on Friday rejected without comment the request by 31-year-old Zachariah Scott Marcyniuk (MAR'-se-nick) of Fayetteville.

Marcyniuk was convicted in December 2008 of the March 9, 2007, beating and stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend - 24-year-old University of Arkansas student Katie Wood of Greenbrier. Wood was found dead in the bathtub of her Fayetteville apartment.

Marcyniuk was arrested March 10, 2007, in western Oklahoma after being stopped for speeding by an Oklahoma state trooper. His conviction and death sentence were upheld by the court in May and Friday's ruling denied his request to make additional arguments before the court.
