Paragould (CRC) - Crowley's Ridge College has released the full 2010-2011 Men's Basketball schedule which features thirty total games as they begin their first season of competition in the National Christian College Athletic Association as they continue the transition to a four year program.
With the change in athletic affiliation, the schedule shows several changes and an upgrade in opponents. CRC will face the programs first ever NCAA Division One opponent when they travel to Tennessee Tech University on December 30.
There will be three NCAA Division two programs on the schedule. CRC will face two in state opponents with Southern Arkansas University on December 2, and Henderson State University on December 6. The Pioneers will visit Lambuth University in Jackson, TN on January 8.
Four NAIA opponents will face off with the Pioneers as well. Central Baptist College, College of the Ozarks, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and local rival Williams Baptist College are also on the schedule. Williams Baptist will visit Paragould on November 16, with the two teams meeting again on January 13 in Walnut Ridge.
"We feel like this is a very tough and competitive schedule," said Pioneers Head Coach Chris Perkins. "This is an upgrade in opponents and we feel this will prepare us for the future of our basketball program. If we want to move up in level of play, our schedule needs to move up as well. This is the toughest schedule in our basketball program history."
Crowley's Ridge College will have thirteen home games this season to go with seventeen away contests this season. CRC is coming off a 13-15 season under Head Coach Chris Perkins.
The season will start on November 5 and 6 as the Pioneers travel to St. Louis to play in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Tip-Off Classic. Their first home game will be on November 12 as they face Hillsdale College.
