BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) – A Texas man facing multiple sexual assault charges against a child was arrested in Arkansas Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Independence County Sheriff's Department, Michael Lee was arrested near a Batesville apartment complex Tuesday afternoon after a short manhunt by police.

Lee failed to show up for court on the sexual assault charges in Texas, and police began staking out his parents apartment Monday night. Independence County Sheriff's Deputies received a tip that Lee could be in the area because his parents live in Batesville.

Lee was trying to enter his parents apartment while police were interviewing them, ran into some nearby woods where police found him a short while later.

Lee was wanted out of Floyd County, Texas for aggravated sexual assault with a child, and an aggravated sexual assault with a child out of Hale County, Texas.

Lee is currently being held in the Independence County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Texas.
