6th Annual ASU Touchdown Club Banquet set for August 26th

Jonesboro (Touchdown Club) - The Arkansas State University Touchdown Club's 6th Annual Banquet will be Thursday August 26th at the Holiday Inn in Jonesboro beginning at 6 pm.   The fundraising event for the ASU Football Program will feature the Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association and former Head Coach of the Baylor Bears Grant Teaff.   The event will also include dinner with live and silent auctions.

Taeff was named the Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association in February 1994 after 21 years as the Head Football Coach at Baylor University.   He won 170 football games, two Southwest Conference Championships, coached in 20 post season bowls and All-Star Games.  He was named Southwest Conference Coach of the Year six times and received National Coach of the Year Awards from the American Football Coaches Association and the Football Writers Association.   He has been placed in eight Halls of Fame, including the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.   He has written five books.

Tables can be purchased for $700 that will seat 8 people.   Individual tickets are available for $100 per person or $175 per couple.   Contact Rick Baker at (870) 243-6877 for ticket information.   Auction items include "Coach of a Day", tickets and air transportation for the Indiana game on October 16, dinner prepared by Coach Steve Roberts and his family, and many other items.   The Weekly Touchdown Club meetings will be on Wednesday August 18, 2010 at the Jonesboro Country Club beginning at noon.   Cost to attend the weekly meetings is $15 and includes lunch.   Weekly meetings will take place each Wednesday throughout the football season.
