JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is working to keep your kids busy as the summer months wind down!
The summer reading club has come to an end. . .but that doesn't mean the activities are!
The library is hosting a series of "Back to School" events throughout this week and next!
Wednesday, August 11th, they decided to have "Fun Day"!
Parents were invited to bring their kids out to get a henna tattoo or their nails painted!
David Harding of Brookland brought his soon to be six year old daughter, Kaylan.
He thinks this activity, along with all the many other ones the library does, are fantastic!
"I think it's great. She woke up this morning and said 'hey, I just remembered! We get to go to the library and do our nails and get tattoos!' Those were the first words out of her mouth! It's a lot of fun. me and my daughter get to come up here and we've come up for several of the events so, it's just fun."
David says his daughter has had a library card since she was three years old!
Kay Taylor, Director of Youth Services, says their many activities have a purpose.
"Yes, they're fun. But they're also an opportunity to let the kids socialize, practice valuable skills, and be exposed to a variety of different things they might otherwise not be able to."
August 12th they plan to celebrate the summer that's going away and the classes that are about to begin!
Kay Taylor, "Our theme this past summer was 'Make a Splash. . .Read'. So, we have some picture frames. We're gonna take pictures and they'll have an opportunity to dress up kind of Hawaiian theme or something like that with a water background, beach background. And we'll take their picture and they can decorate their picture frame to have a memory of the summer. and then, since it's back to school, we've got a couple of back to school crafts."
This will take place from ten to noon.
They hope both kids and parents will have a great time!
