Region 8 health facility celebrates patients

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - It's National Health Center week and a local medical facility is celebrating in an unusual way.

National Health Center week is an annual observation of the community health centers throughout the nation with particular focus on the services they provide the community they serve.

The Trumann Family Health Center is celebrating by honoring it's patients!

All week long they are holding a number of different events for the public.

An open house took place from eleven to noon where they invited residents to come in and check out their facility.

They hope by holding this week's events they can make people aware of what services are available to them.

Dr. Trent Lamb: "We are able to provide physician services to the community that would otherwise almost be impossible to do so."

Director of Marketing and Development with the East Arkansas Family Health Center, Gloria Gilliam, says events like these are valuable opportunities.

"This week is so important because we emphasize the services we provide. We have open houses, like the one here today, so we can invite the public in. So that they may become more aware of the services that we provide."

Gilliam says many people don't realize what the facility is or what it does, "We are open to anyone to receive health services whether they are insured or not. We open our services up based on slightly scaled fees."

Visitors found a variety of door prizes, refreshments and school supplies available while they looked around and asked questions.

August 12th will be "Salute the Troops" day.
